Part of Ara the altar's LYRA collection. The LYRA family captures the ancient world’s relationship with storytelling in a gently graduated form.
One of the smallest constellations, Lyra depicts a lyre and is home to one of our brightest stars, Vega. In Ancient Greece, the lyre, closely resembling the harp, was the most unifying musical instrument. Lyric poetry to the accompaniment of the lyre was how society experienced storytelling; publicly and over the course of days.
The core of these stories are still with us today as the epic cycle; the Iliad, the Odyssey, and the Aeneid.
The LYRA family is worn by harpist Elinor Nicholson. Responsibly styled with European linen and DOHM ceramics. Art direction and photography by Lauren.
